For my media project I will be creating a opening thriller title sequence, which got me thinking
What is a thriller?
It is not a "groovy" dance routine like the government was telling you it was all this time.
Wikipedia describe it as:
A genre of literature, film, videogame stories and television programming that uses suspense, tension, and excitement as its main elements.[1] Thrillers heavily stimulate the viewer's moods, giving them a high level of anticipation, ultra-heightened expectation, uncertainty, surprise, anxiety and terror. Films of this genre tend to be adrenaline-rushing, gritty, rousing and fast-paced.[2][3]Horrors and Thrillers tend to overlap because of how well they compliment each other, they almost seem synonymous. The listed above description sounds a lot like a horror film, which brings up a interesting question, what's the difference between the two?
The main difference is that horror focuses on one element (terror) while thrillers focus on a whole marinade of elements (as can be seen above). The major difference is that horrors try to play on our primal fears to elicit a negative emotional reaction from viewers.
Things you find in Thrillers:
Nearly all thrillers use dystopian settings or dark lighting to give there film a grime dark tone. The dark tone is almost essential in setting the mystery of the film.
Mystery is a key component in the thriller drama as it drives the story forward and helps build the
another important component, thriller.
Suspense - Is the key defining aspect of thrillers. It is what makes the story more interesting and
different.
Fast pacing/ Action may be used to keep you guessing and interested in the movie, it also makes the movie far more exciting.

Why has the government kept this information from us for so long, with no way to access it (even through Google)!? WHAT ARE THEY HIDING?!
ReplyDeleteI don't know dedicated Film viewer but slowly I will reveal more of their secrets and corruptions in my upcoming series "Film Conspiracy"
